The (Defense) Advanced Research Projects Agency [(D)ARPA] is a unique U.S. government resource that funds advanced, high risk / high payoff research. Because it maintains no "corporate history", much of the understanding of what has worked, what has been tried, and how to effectively operate is passed down through word of mouth via networking among current and previous personnel. This web site exists to provide support for this natural need to network, to enable ex-(D)ARPA personnel to better keep-in-touch with each other, and to provide a resource to the current agency to contact alumni. This alumni organization is ad-hoc and exists solely through this web presence. The DARPA Alumni Organization is not officially associated with, sanctioned by, or otherwise affiliated with the U.S. DoD (Defense) Advanced Research Projects Agency. Access to the site and its contents is restricted to verified current or past (D)ARPA Employees only. Access to this site has now been shut off to encourage using the DARPA sponsored site.
